Nothing soothes you at the end of the day like a cold beer or in the case of us adventure travelers, an iced drink in the middle of a summer’s day hike. At least that’s how it works for me. In this post we will be reviewing a cooler cube that can serve your whole crew while outdoors, and a few other Mountainsmith cooler bags. Anyways, The Mountainsmith cooler cube is capable of accommodating 24 cans or 12 bottles. Here’s what it is all about.

Mountainsmith Cooler Cube Review

Kicking off with the material review as usual, we know that PVC has a high density, extremely hard and strong. It also is a lightweight material. PEVA material is commonly used to make shower curtain liners. It is also considered more eco-friendly and less toxic than PVC liners. The PE foam too is durable, lightweight and possesses excellent vibration dampening and insulation properties. Not only that, it resists chemicals and moisture strongly. So the Mountainsmith cooler cube material is on point. The dual rope handle is removable and the cooler comes with stash pockets in front and back.

It also has dual internal organization pockets and a key clip. Capacity is perfect for a crew on a day trip. According to the customer feedback, this cooler cube is capable of keeping your stuff cold for a day or two. Another user states that this is perfect for storing work lunches needed for his forty eight hour shift. However, we have to advise that there were a few complaints claiming that the water seeped out once the ice melted after a few hours.

Mountainsmith The Takeout Cooler Bag

The Mountainsmith cooler cube for lunch-sized carry-all for school, office, and tailgate. Admittedly, this is not for the adventure traveler. But hey, you can use it for a day hike. The specs are pretty much identical.

  • PEVA liner, PE foam insulation, P600 two-tone PVC materials
  • 13.5 x 7.5 x 4 inches and 0.4 kilograms
  • 6 cans capacity
  • Barrel top zippered closure
  • Rope haul handle

Takeout Cooler Bag Review

The phrase Small but mighty definitely justifies this bag. Users absolutely love the foam insulation, the thick and sturdy padding, the zipper, the handles and the useful pockets. The zippered mesh pocket apparently is quite perfect for an ice pack. A user who works in the forestry industry claimed that this cooler bag still looks and functions new after a year of heavy usage. Even during the hottest of days, the stuff inside is acceptably chilled. Less than a handful of users have mistaken its- size and were a bit annoyed that it was too small. However, even they agree that the build quality is of the highest standard. Besides, it is stylish too!

You can also check out the identical Mountainsmith The Sixer Cooler Bag which is almost identical, except it is a little bigger in size. It goes Takeout Cooler Bag< The Sixer Cooler Bag<Cooler Cube. So if you’d rather have something smaller than the cooler cube and bigger than the Takeout, the Sixer Cooler is a perfect middle ground product.
