For the travel lover, a weekend getaway is as enjoyable as a few months of traveling if it is done right. And by done right, I mean well planned, no stress and you have packed everything you need during those two days. Now there are several types of weekend escapades like romantic getaways, trips at the beach, winter breaks and solo or family adventure travels. Regardless they all have some common accessories when it comes to packing. Therefore in this post we will talk about what to pack for a 2 day trip of any nature.

The thing is that your packing depends on many external variables as well. If the trip was a last minute plan, you are most likely to end up packing a whole bunch of unwanted stuff that you probably might not need. On the other hand, if the trip was planned a few weeks ago then the chances are that you’ll carefully sort out your packing. However, experience plays a major role and just like many other things in life, packing for a 2 day trip also requires a certain amount of experience. So it won’t matter if the trip is a last minute schedule or a long time planned. I’ve been a weekend getaway fan for several years now, so I will try to put together what I think is best for a 2 day trip.

What To Pack for 2 Day Trip: The Essentials

First of all we will list out the common accessories for any type of 2 day trip, next we will be a bit more specific on each type. Sounds good? Okay then let’s start.

Clothes

Obviously right? But hold up and let us explain. If you aren’t extraordinarily clean chances are that you’re definitely going to be wearing the same pair of jeans throughout. So refrain from packing extra jeans. However a single pair of shorts would come in handy. For girls, a pair of extra leggings would be advisable if you don’t prefer wearing the same pair of pants through the weekend. As for t-shirts and tops, If it is the summer then you probably need a couple of extra tops.

But in my experience, I have been better off with just two t-shirts through the weekend. An extra pair of socks is more than enough for a weekend. Assuming you don’t dance in the rain or plunge into rivers with socks on. As for undergarments, those are the most important. So have at least 2 extra pairs. Finally, a pair of pajamas and a swimsuit is needed.

Of course there would be a bit of additional clothing if it is winter. A winter jacket or a parka, scarf, gloves and other thermal wear will be necessary.

Travel Gear and the Electronics

Of course we have our mobile phones and possibly a DSLR. So make sure to carry your charger. Better yet, carry a multi-port charger capable of plugging in all your electronics. The UGREEN 65W Multiport USB C Charger is perfect for users having different devices with separate charging configurations. It has 3 USB C ports and a standard USB-A port, when you connect 4 devices, power will be distributed efficiently between both ports to ensure optimum charging current.

The only other electronics you require is your power bank. Something like the 2-Pack 10000mAh Power Bank by Miady would do the job. Supports USB, USB Type C, Micro USB. It is also compact and lightweight.

Also on a separate note, a travel wallet(preferably RFID blocking) would be better to store all your travel documents including passport, travel tickets and other valuables. A backpack like the Osprey Farpoint 40L if you are hiking or backpacking. A good carry-on adhering to the standards if you are going on a winter or a romantic break.

Toiletries and Skincare

Now we really would not want to miss out on this. I guess this part is more relevant to Women than Men. Toothbrush and toothpaste are common elements for both. Sunscreen might also be necessary depending on your destination. But girls generally tend to carry makeup items and other cosmetics apart from moisturizers and deodorants. The thing is, while these add more weight, they may render useless if you are out camping or hiking since you are going to be sweaty most of the time.

Well there you go! Believe it or not that is all there is on what to pack for a 2 day trip. Nevertheless, as promised we will skim through some specific 2 day trips and list out the packing essentials for those.

What To Pack for a 2 Day Camping Trip

Apart from all the camping gear such as tents, sleeping bags or bivy and the cooking utensils plus clothing and footwear along with health and hygiene accessories, there are a few other handy items that you may include. A pair of binoculars, notebook and pencil, antiseptic wipes or a portable shower.

Packing for a 2 Day Winter Trip

Needless to say this is going to be a bulky carry-on because of the thick winter wear. What you can do, is to wear the bulkiest parkas and jackets while traveling and leave the lightweights inside the bag. We already mentioned that you are going to need winter gloves. You also might need thicker socks, scarfs and winter boots.

Summary

This is as far the packing list goes for any type of getaway spanning a couple of days. The first three things we mentioned at the beginning of the post are the most important. Of course you will make changes depending on the weather conditions and the nature of your travel destination. But the fact remains that apart from what we have listed above, anything else is unnecessary and will only result in bulking your pack. Don’t worry, you will get the hang of it after packing your luggage this way for several times. Have an enjoyable getaway with a short packing list!
